Aquarium filter question?

I have 2 small red claw in a 10G tank filled half way to allow dry land for the to hang out when they need to. I would like to know if i could turn the filter off at night(for about 8 hours). I did buy 2 identical tanks and instead of just cleaning the tank, i do switch the the other tank every 5 days or so. I do clean the dirty tank very well and let it dry in the sun completely. The pebbles i do place them on a big strainer and spray them with the hose, and also let it dry in the sun. 2 days before switching the back into it i treat the water as recomended. My point is that the tank is always very clean and the are doing well. Since they can breath above water do i need the filter running 24 hours?
