If there were laser rifles...?

If there were laser rifles similar to the blasters from Star Wars and such, what type of residual elements would be left behind where they struck? They mention "carbon scoring", but say a CSI team had to clean up after someone shot up a place - without bullets, what would be left behind as physical evidence to be collected, to ascertain without a doubt that a laser blast struck a certain area? And for that matter, would it be the same, depending on what the laser struck? Would the evidence pulled from a body be the same as that pulled from a concrete wall?
