Last name Paul? (Need Russians)?

My great-grandfather is from Russia. He name was Morris Paul. But Paul doesn't sound Russian to me at all. I found a man named Morris Pavel. Does Pavel=Paul is Russian? If not what would? Is it a common last name there if so? (<-- Pavel)
