Help help! turkey thawing troubles?

ok, so i have been making my own turkey dinner for yrs, i am 27. we moved into this place we are renting last dec, but noticed the fridge is sooooooooo retarded. it freezes nearly everything, NO not the freezer, but the fridge part. we have no other way of controling this but by turning down the temps to where its almost warm to keep stuff from freezing. i also know that the colder the freezer, the 'overflow' comes down into the fridge, got ya. anyway, i never made turkey here, and the fridge is RE freezing the water i am thawing out the turkey in. I don't think this bird will be thawed by thurs. its 19.42lbs. I keep changing the water, putting salt on it, just like 'grandma' does. i even have it so close to the front of the fridge, it could very well fall out if it wasn't in a pan. what else could i do. i have to pay for my own water, and in colorado its expensive. i thought about thawing it in the sink, we i have 1 side, thats it. i need the sink for other stuff. please help me.
